From Dynamite to Divine Wine! It all started off with a bang, literally. On a cool spring morning in 1929, a courageous crew from Okanagan Falls set out into the abandoned mining camp to embark on an audacious act: taking down an old wooden church. Struggling to get through rusty nails, the ingenious Harley Hatfield had a wild idea: using dynamite to “loosen” them? With a crowd of people holding their breath, four sticks of dynamite were then hung from the rafters. Boom! The steeple may have been blown to bits, but the rest of the church survived on to make its way back to Okanagan Falls, where it still holds services every Sunday. Today, it proudly bears the title of the “blasted church!

Fast-forward to 2010, when they decided it was time for a fresh look that matched our vibrant spirit. Their labels, crafted by Chris Sickels of Red Nose Studio, feature quirky claymation models that capture our unique blend of past and future. These delightful designs might look a bit rough around the edges, but they perfectly capture our philosophy: honor the past while having a blast in the present!

Now, on this third generation, things change in Blasted. As far as we are at a new era, about wines, it is definitely Blasted Church: in good wines, expressive for certain! Our new packages surely celebrate this renaissance and show truly outstanding fruits grown from Skaha Bench down to Osoyoos. It is their vision: with great intention around the farmland and crafting very qualitative terroir wines on everything; having a great laugh on doing so!
