Gray Monk Estate Winery has one of those quaint beginning stories, full of flavor, just like the wines they produce. In the early 1970s, the Austrian-German couple George and Trudy Heiss did the unthinkable: they changed from hairdressing to winemaking upon arrival in the Okanagan Valley. They turned their orchard into a vineyard, planting iconic varietals such as Pinot Gris, Pinot Auxerrois, and Gewurztraminer from Alsace. First to grow Pinot Gris in Canada in 1976, by 1982 Gray Monk Winery was born, starting with a meager 125-case vintage made in a garage. Today, it is a name celebrated by over 100,000 cases annually with a reputation for exceptional fruit forward whites.
The commitment to quality and innovation is in every bottle at Gray Monk. This winery has continued to impress with its diverse range of wines, showing mastery in crisp, refreshing whites that really bring out the very best of the Okanagan’s unique terroir. Whether you’re a Pinot Gris enthusiast or new to their exceptional blends, there’s something for every palate at Gray Monk.
