Situated in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Volcanic Hills Winery is much more than just a winery; it’s a multigenerational family story. The journey that led to today began with Sarwan Gidda’s father, Mehtab, who arrived in Canada in 1958 with little more than $5 in his pocket and a set of metal dinnerware. From India, Mehtab was a long-time mango farmer, but after ending up in the Okanagan, he applied his farming knowledge to apples, thus laying the foundation for what would become a winemaking legacy. In 1978, Sarwan and his wife Sudarshana began planting grapes, selling to reputable wineries such as Gray Monk and Mission Hill, while concurrently converting their orchards into vineyards. Today, Volcanic Hills stands as testimony to Mehtab’s toil and his family’s dream.

The winery started its operations in the year 2010 and since then has been producing wines that are not only exceptional but world-class. Focused on quality and deeply connected to the land, Volcanic Hills is built on the same hardworking principles that guided Mehtab’s journey. Sarwan and his family continue to run the winery, carrying on his legacy and passion for winemaking. Its volcanic soils and peculiar climate find their perfect match for the elaboration of wines.
